Beginner Friendly Club
Most people who decide to try chess in person never make it through the door. Not because clubs are unwelcoming, but because they can't tell from outside whether they're allowed to turn up, whether they need to bring a set, or whether anyone will talk to them.
Six things fix that. If your club does all six, add the badge to your website.
The Six Criteria
- Anyone can visit without joining firstA first visit is possible without becoming a member, pre-registering or paying up front.
- Beginners are expected, not just toleratedYou run a beginner session, offer coaching, or say plainly on your site that beginners are welcome.
- Equipment is providedVisitors do not need to bring a set, board or clock.
- Where and when is easy to findYour venue address, meeting day and start time are all within two clicks of your homepage.
- Someone answers the emailThe contact address on your site is watched, and a beginner asking a question gets a reply.
- No rating requirementNo minimum rating, grade or playing standard is needed to attend or join.
